Sales Engineer

Mission:

The Sales Engineer’s mission is to help the business grow by being a useful technical resource to prospects, customers, and internal sales professionals. In this role you will become an invaluable resource for the sales team.  The Sales Engineer is responsible for acting as a resource and training new Account Executives on the ins and outs of our product, leading technical conversations to determine how to best capture a prospect’s workflow into Tiles, Professional Services or Slate, and communicating product knowledge in ways that increase efficiency in the sales organization. The Sales Engineer will assist on demo calls across our suite of products, and identify technical opportunities, workarounds, and limitations to arrive at ‘yes’ for our prospects. The Sales Engineer is the technical champion for enabling prospects to become effective customers, managing all technical aspects of the pre-sale process. As a member of the Services team, Sales Engineers will be champions in the successful handoff from Sales to Services, smoothing the path for prospects to become highly successful customers of InsightSquared.

Outcomes:

  • Assist Account Executives in identifying technical solutions for prospects through Tiles, Professional Services, or Slate.
  • Communicate opportunities, workarounds, and limitations in the prospect’s source system and in InsightSquared to get prospects to a ‘yes’.
  • Deliver demo calls for Slate and Professional Services. Write clear, detailed technical requirements for to those teams to use for next steps in delivery.
  • Train and help Account Executives understand our product’s capabilities, hold office hours, and field quick requests through a designated Slack channel.
  • Manage pre-sale technical processes including Proof of Concept setup, pre-sale configuration changes, dashboard creation, and filter setup.
  • Improve the existing knowledge base or our sales team and create documentation to easily communicate the capabilities our a complex BI software product .
  • Collaborate with Customer Success and Services groups for a smooth handoff once the customer buys.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Support Sales Calls and Demos
  • Validate prospects’ success criteria, especially related to InsightSquared’s technical capabilities
  • Translate business requirements into InsightSquared technology
  • Help prospects get to ‘yes’ using the full offerings of Tiles, Slate, and Professional Services
  • Configure and Support Proofs of Concept / Trials
  • Lead technical ramp-up for new AEs
  • Guarantee that the post-sale solution will match prospect and AEs’ agreed upon expectations
  • Manage Demonstration Datasets
  • Ensure smooth transition of new customers to Onboarding team

Capabilities:

  • Confident and charismatic; able to shine in a supporting sales capacity
  • Listening and problem solving skills; able to think in a technically creative way
  • Communication and engagement capabilities of a public speaker
  • Collaborative personality that will partner with Sales, Services, Product, and Engineering
  • Fluent in switching smoothly between all of the languages of a software company; Software and database administrators speak in CRM configuration lingo, product language, and some SQL (Python/APEX a plus, but not required)
  • Cool, calm and collected personality that can handle calls and requests on extremely short notice
  • Experience with Salesforce.com required (certification a plus)
  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in technical sales - quota bearing a huge plus
  • Bachelors required, Computer Science background a plus
